Ok I got tired of the bickering on the Wanna Be Wrangler Price thread and decided to post some pricing based on Jeep's competition REGARDING true off-road capabilities, which to me is the primary reason people buy Wranglers and Gladiators.

The following list is broken down into SUV vs. truck type models. For the SUV models, they are all MSRP for base models, with four doors. The truck category are MSRP for base models with four-wheel drive and crew/double cab seating. Pricing comes directly from the manufacturer's website.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - $37,290
Ford Bronco - $40,370
Toyota 4-Runner - $40,770
Toyota Land Cruiser - $56,700
Land Rover Defender 110 - $60,800
Ineos Grenadier Station Wagon - $75,100
Lexus GX 550 Premium - $65,585
Mercedes G550 - $148,250

Jeep Gladiator - $38,695
Toyota Tacoma - $38,395
Chevy Colorado - $34,695
Ford Ranger - $38,320
Nissan Frontier - $37,960

Let me know what vehicles I'm missing.

I think you should do the double cab 4x4 for the Tacoma for it to be a fair comparison to the other trucks.

The starting MSRP should all be base model 4x4, double cabs.

I think you should change your premise that people buy the Wrangler for "true off-road capabilities"

Good feedback. I did update the truck pricing. All prices are for double/crew cab trucks with four-wheel drive.

Personally, I think the Colorado is the best option. With the recent update / refresh and major torque upgrade on that 2.0l. You can pair that with the Trail Boss upgrades with a discount under $40k. A local dealership in Central CA had a New Trail Boss for $36k.

It's a capable, affordable, mid-range truck by today's standards. It would be my choice if I was buying today.

Unbelieveable times we’re living in when a toyota truck is cheaper than a jeep.
It's not. Base Wrangler Unlimited starts at $37,290. Base Toyota Tacoma with four-wheel drive and double cab starts at $38,395, ($475 more than Wrangler).

Yes, you can get regular cab Tacoma or a rear-wheel drive Tacoma for a bit cheaper, but they are not an equal comparison to the Wrangler or Gladiator.

True, but we should include the hard top $$$ for the Gladiator.
