So my jeep is still in the shop with the P0 58A code because the dealer can’t find a tech and trace it down or some baloney like that And top of that the shop that installed my suspension screwed it up so once I get it back from the shop Gotta go to a different shop

So here’s the confession part today I went and drove a brand new Colorado ZR 2 with the bison package on it
a brand new Rubicon exactly like mine except without the SOT
and shame as it is a bronco bad Lands

Here are my thoughts that Colorado ZR two if it was an SUV would be giving Jeep fits because it drove like a dream It was quiet. Has front and rear lockers and it was really nice.

The Rubicon that I drove was also exceptionally nice even with 40 psi in the tires. It was really good made me glad that I still have mine if I ever get it back.

The bronco honestly sucked. It rode very hard. It also had 40 psi in the tires. It was a hard top bad, Lands Even with the hard top and brand new tires it was noisy way noisier than the jeep you felt every bump in the road the seats that everybody says are so comfortable. We’re only OK and I didn’t think nearly as good as the jeeps plus they’re not power
the motor made you feel good. Has a lot of power but compared to the Jeep Penstar it’s not that much greater in my view

Which is why when I read all these reviews by these “car gurus and influencers on Instagram and YouTube my BS meters is going through the roof after this

All three of these were pretty much apple apples they all had 35. They were all brand new. They all had a lot of psi in their tires.
And while it’s difficult to compare the ZR two with the bison package directly to the jeep because one’s a truck and the other SUV if I were to have compared that ZR two to my old gladiator, I’m afraid ZR 2

The thing is if you were to modify the year or two I think that would be extremely difficult. The bronco absolutely needs to be modified because of tire rods in the front axle thing.
And the jeep is a blank canvas with the skies limit and more support out there than any of the others

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I have a 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2. Absolutely love it. It is a great truck. I picked it over the gladiator. The 4cyl turbo miter is a bast compared to the gladiator. On road manners are great and way better than a Jeep.

With that said, it is not even close to replacing my JLUR for off road capabilities. You a throw a $800 lift on a rubicon and a set of 37s and run hard trails like the Rubicon trail, Pritchett Canyon and Cliffhanger and get through with out damage if you know how to wheel. You are not doing hard trails with the ZR2 for with a cheap lift and clearing 37s.

I have zero intentions of modding the ZR2 like I have the JLUR. It is a daily driver and great at that, while being capable of easy to moderate trails.

If I was only running trails rated say 5 and below, the ZR2 would be great for that. I would bet that if you did a YouTube search for the ZR2 doing trails like the Rubicon or say Cliffhanger, there would be probably very few videos available for that type of wheeling and yet there are thousands and thousands of videos of jeeps doing trails rated that high.

The ZR2 will not flex like a Jeep and the rear departure angle Like the gladiator makes it less off road worthy for stuff that a wrangler will do.

The ZR2 is fun to drive, comfortable, been trouble fre, has great leg room, and tows nice with plenty of power and torque. The motor puts out 350 pounds of torque at 1500 rpm. 430 pounds of torque overall and 310 hp. It is a great Addison to the garage and looks cool.

I agree with you. I really wanted to like the Bronco. I test drove a decked out brand new fully loaded Bronco last year then I bought my Willys 4xe. The Bronco is really not apples to apples with the Jeep. To me they were not comparable. The Bronco seemed like a toy; thus, I have the Jeep.

Yeah, I have to agree and the AEV package on them fits them with 35s and full skid plates so I think you could do a little bit rougher trails but you’re right I don’t know. I don’t wanna challenge that in the zr2 that being said, I did run the Rubicon in a bone stock TJ Rubicon when they first came out with a Mark Smith off-road group
