Is there anyone having issues with there hybrid jeeps? Last weekend it shut down on while getting onto the highway! got it towed to the dealership said the main battery was defective and there were two blown fuses and they could not figure out why!! I got the car back just a few days ago and the car is dead The same flashing message about the battery and to open the hood and car will not turn on.. its beyond frustrating that you pay all this money for a brand new car that does not work or feel safe!!! the dealership said to start a "star file" how do I go about doing that

I was flamed on my first post here as I mentioned the "B" word from that other manufacturer. I don't want to return the flame as I see it's your first post so I'll, nicely, say-
  1. Yes, others have had issues. It's a mechanical thing and this is a forum. You can use the search function.
  2. I, personally, have no idea what a star case is but, again, you can run a search or ask the dealer who suggested it- seems sensical- if someone told me to do something, I'd ask how.
  3. I haven't had your issue.
Best of luck!

You can search here for what a STAR file is, but I believe it is when they talk to the manufacturer on a warranty case. There are also several posts about what a new owner should look for when they pick up their jeep - making sure all the fuses are pushed in is one of them and is easy to do.

Understand the 4xe has two batteries - the first is the same battery all vehicles have, the 12V, and then the 4XE's have the High Voltage battery. Lots of people get them mixed up. Your HV battery can be 100% charged and your 12V battery can still be too low to start the vehicle.

The 12V batteries are a known thing to not be the best quality. The 4XE's and all Jeeps are very sensitive to the battery voltage and will throw all kinds of error codes when the root cause is the 12V battery.

There are some cases of the HV battery having issues, but from what I have read, those are not very many and seem to be mainly the earlier years. It is not common to have problems with the HV battery - although it can happen.

Chances are you have two issues, your fuses weren't properly seated and your 12V battery was and is too low to properly run the Jeep. If you really do have blown fuses, then that could be a different issue, but those are generally easy to replace.

I also wonder if you need to take it to another dealer.

Finally, I would reach out to Jeep Cares - understand they cannot wave a magic wand and make your wishes and dreams come true, but they can be an advocate for you and at least you can start to build your file in case there is more to your Jeep than some unseated fuses and a low 12V battery.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that. Same thing happened to me (shut down while driving on the interstate) and I eventually had to go lemon law. When it happened, the dealer service department opened a "Star" ticket, which was explained to me as an open case for "FCA corporate engineers" to try and troubleshoot/resolve the issue. But the service dept. did that, it wasn't something I initiated. Led to no answers and ultimately no one could explain why my 4xe randomly shut down. I'm back in a gas model now. I'm glad it's all behind me now. Good luck!

Yes the service tech told us that they are the ones who do it. They have had my Jeep for 3 weeks and still no answer i contacted a lawyer to start the lemon law claim.

I changed that crap factory battery for a aftermarket 12v battery day one. It’s a known issues and not with only Jeeps. I’ve had 2 brand new Rams and a Toyota leave me stranded due to the battery. I figure that what’s a $300 battery when I can afford a $70k car.
