WELL I DONT WAVE AT MALL CRAWLERS.. SERIOUSLY!! IF YOU HAVE STEP SIDES, CHROME OF ANY KIND, DUAL MUFFLERS IN BACK UNDER BUMPER, NOPE! SO...
Your call. To each their own obviously. I hate those things and think chromed out Wranglers are monstrosities but they are still Wranglers and part of the community.

I also wave to all Wranglers. Technically I have been a mall crawler or pavement princess since I got the JL. But it hasn’t been my fault. We have had so much rain here, and when it’s a good day, I’m working

Denver vs Colorado Springs

Home = Denver Metro

I've been down to the Springs a few times in the past few weeks and noticed a much higher wave success rate in the Springs vs Denver. Also a larger amount of lifted/built jeeps. When I get wave frustrated ill just day trip it south, they seem to also have a lot more bright color jeeps too.

I've been meaning to chime in on this thread for a while. I've been into this Jeep thing for nearly 30 years now, and I generally wave when I think about it, which happens most often when I'm in "Jeep Mode". Jeep Mode is most often triggered by the following (numbers in parentheses represent my estimated "wave percentage" under these conditions):
  • When a cool-looking Wranger or CJ catches my eye while I'm still in wave range, and I'm not in a situation where a wave might distract me (100%)
  • When I'm on a 4WD trail (95%)
  • When I'm just off-pavement, but not necessarily off-road (90%)
  • When the top is down/off, regardless of other conditions (90%)
  • When I'm on a two-lane paved road (60%)
  • When my driver-side window is down (50%)
  • When I'm in traffic or on a divided highway with top on/up and windows up (1%)
Obviously, when you look at the total time I spend driving, I'm not waving much overall, because that last bullet covers most of my driving time. Various factors may reduce the above numbers, e.g. talking to a passenger, or shifting gears when driving a stick. Also, I don't intentionally snub non-Wranglers/CJs or non-Jeeps, but they just generally don't catch my eye like a Wrangler or CJ does. Furthermore, a built Wrangler/CJ tends to catch my eye more than a stock one, unless I'm in an off-road situation where everything coming my way is going to catch my eye.

So, OP, my general advice is: wave generously when you think about it and it is safe to do so, and don't get offended when your target doesn't wave back!

I don't bother because when I wave they don't wave back and then when I don't wave they wave to me.

I was totally stoked about this, as I thought it would be a rare thing, and I'm also in Colorado. First time taking out the new JLU, two big waves from some awesome looking JKU's that I passed. Any time this happens, it makes me believe there's hope for the human race.

Ok Wrangler owners in CO what gives......my brother-in-law (whom had a JKUS) and the dealer told me to wave at other Wrangler owners to be part of this exclusive Jeep wave movement......only no one seems to care.

This is my first Wrangler and I'm trying to uphold the high standards bestowed upon me but seriously I think my chances of getting a wave back have been far less than 50%.

Sooooo, is there just too many Wranglers in CO and so no one cares anymore or did my brother-in-law and dealer set me up to be on some TV show that has morons waving at passing Jeeps????????

I'm in Florida, I just got back into the Jeep family (had a '81 CJ-7) and I send a wave, regardless if I get one back. Like Biker's , some do , some don't.
