It’s always interesting the differing bits in a news piece that captures our attention. This got mine:

Stellantis is seeking to reduce employment at Belvidere to “603 non-skilled and 199 skilled trades employees,“ according to a UAW letter sent to workers in late March.

One employee in four at an auto plant classified as skilled??? I’d like to see the org chart for that business.

..Your car was assembled by a team of 75% unskilled workers. Can I interest you in that extended warranty now?

It’s interesting when you get to sit in for meetings to see what the organization is viewed as skilled and not. For example, prior to me getting into aviation. I did upholstery and the first boat manufacturer I worked for didn’t consider us skilled. I left and went to a yacht builder and doubled my pay.

Well they haven't done anything to keep it relevant. I hate hearing of layoffs always reminds me of seeing my dad in middle school when he got laid off. Alot of this can be avoided imo

lots of skilled/unskilled jobs are defined by the Dept of Labor, not the employer.

30 year aircraft tech, in a union, i',m still considered unskilled labor.

Hopefully this nudges them into making the Cherokee a solid rear axle with some XJ DNA rather than a generic, basic crossover that looks identical to the Compass and every other vehicle on the road.

Jeep could easily play in the Bronco space without ever changing the Wrangler.

business vs. charity... got to have both and there is an undefined balance. Unless you want socialism and not having a choice.

The hardest thing for a company is to stay relevant and grow beyond your initial offering. Ups and downs of business means managing your workforce. This is harder to do in changing times... good or bad.
