It's a cost/benefit analysis. But if it works for you... do you. However, I would ask, If it's such a great product why the mandates to force them on lots? They should be flying off the lots and people should be lining up to order them.
Edit: Let's put it to the test and get the Federal Government and the State of California to step aside. Surely the 4xE is such a great product it will sell like hotcakes all on its own merit.
I bet you pick and choose when you want the government to step in to people lives.

She's just looking out for your future and that of your families, like you should.

It is a carb restriction for carb states and stelantis. My local Pa dealership had gas versions as well on their lot... One was the one i ordered in March of 2023 that hadn't arrived by November 2023 so I went out of state and actually save 10k. They took delivery of it a few weeks ago. (over a year on order). Never said they were not allowed on the lots. They cannot be ordered as dealership stock. Only the 4xe. Only ones allowed on lots as dealership stock would be customer orders that backed out.
Got it. I was confused by you saying "if their vehicle has a hybrid version that is the only vehicle they're allowed to keep on the dealership lots." It's really that in CARB states Stellantis won't allocate non-hybrids, but previously ordered ICE vehicles can be held by dealers on their lots.

I found a 2024 4xe Willys at a local dealer in Southern California that I liked. I contacted the dealership and set up an appointment to check it out. The dealership was so busy I could not even get help. I emailed the internet manager to send me his best price. His price included $3000 in dealer add on bullshit. I countered with a reasonable price and no add ons. He pretty much told to f___ off with no counter.

I don't think they are having any trouble moving Jeeps here.

Are you thinking that two year old Gladiators should be selling for MSRP, especially when many potential buyers are waiting for the 2024 Wrangler updates to be applied?
No, that was my point. Jeep gives incentives to get sell older units sitting on the lots and the dealerships are tacking on worthless accessories. Listing accessories for thousands of dollars to bring the OTD price to MSRP. Thus the dealership making the profit instead of the customer getting a lower price.

The prices for the accessories are ridiculous too.

These are some of the examples I'm talking about. I'm not sure what the CROWN discount is, but it's misleading. The prices also change depending on the car and they seem to charge whatever. I noticed when I bought my Wrangler through them, they actually charged me $500 more than what was advertised for an accessory. I didn't notice it on the addendum.

I bought mine during COVID, so I negotiated off the $5,000 markup and paid the $3,000 worth of shitty accessories. But mine was the only XR I could get a hold of in that price range at the time. But I will never do business with them again. lol

We've had a couple ICE orders where the owners backed out at the last moment. These things don't even last the month. My 2023 I ordered before backing out and re-ordering a 2024 had the managers freaking out wondering how they're going to sell a manual 2 door fully loaded 3.6 rubicon. The damn thing was gone within 2 weeks.

I'm sure the non-hybrids on the lots will be sold faster going forward since they are still the norm right now. I just hope it doesn't start the dealers to thinking about adding their infamous market value adjustment just because.... With Jeep not producing a 2 door 4Xe yet I would hope those still show up on dealer lots at some point without the need of ordering one first.

They don't really recognize the demand for 2 doors with a manual. It's a niche vehicle now.
