I have a 2018 JLUR that included the LED package from the factory. I replaced the OEM LED tail lights with the Oracle LED Flush Mount Tail Lights and had no issue like I am having with the Motobilt lights.

I installed the Motobilt lights a couple evenings ago. The next day I went for a drive and on start up, I received the "Turn Signal Lights Out" message. Motobilt advised "a taser programmer is recommended for Jeep owners with factory LED tail lights to turn off signal flasher warnings and will solve this." Well my programmer is not a Taser. I have a Superchips Flashcal which does not have this option. In addition to the warning upon start up, when using turn signals, they hyper flash on my cluster and the ticking noise is very fast. The signals operate properly on the actual lights though.

Does anyone else have a solution to this issue? I thought I would post on the forum before returning my Motobilt tail lights and installing my Oracle lights again. It's odd that the Oracle lights had no issues but the Motobilt ones are causing this issue.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

I know this is the opposite of your problem. But I have the full led light package including tail lights and despite that, when I installed Oracle led tail lights, which I love, I got the exact same messages and behavior. I used the Tazer to tell the Jeep to ignore the tail light out reporting. It’s possible an in line resistor with a specific resistance could report the correct load and stop the messages but I wasn’t willing to take the time to mess with it.

Had the exact issue you had.... I have the taser so this video is a 1x1 following.

NOTE - I had other brands of tail lights without issues as well.

Edited - Just realized you don't have this option with your superchips flashcal switching from led to halogen and back.

That’s odd that you got the lights out message with the Oracles! I just put mine back on and the message is gone! So weird!

Yes I thought so too. I guess I liked the lights enough and was lazy enough I was ok with it. That’s a bummer about the Motobilts though

Just an FYI, I did have oracles with no issues on my JLURD with the halogens. Plug n Play for halogens, maybe not the case with the LED package.

I’d much rather buy a tazer vs stick with subpar oracles or factory leds… plus the tazer you can change so many things that are quality of life, and if you do modifications then you can let the jeep know you did that as well.

What didn’t you like about your Oracle taillights?

Update, I returned the Motobilt lights and the Oracle lights are back on. The error message/warning message is gone.

For all with the Oracle light issues, I did have an issue with my passenger light (about 6 months ago). I contacted Oracle, and even though I had mine for 3+ years, they replaced the light for free. I paid for the shipping.

Thanks all for their input!

Had the exact issue you had.... I have the taser so this video is a 1x1 following, with your situation would probably be the same general concept. Main thing was cycling for the time he mentions over n over exactly the way he posted in the video. Good luck to you, I've had zero issues since.

NOTE - I had other brands of tail lights without issues as well.

TEAMSLO nailed it with this video.

Your Jeep has LED taillights, and you replaced them with LED taillights. But they are different LED taillights, and your Jeep doesn't recognize them. You need to turn off the LED taillights with a Tazer and then turn them back on again, and your Jeep will then recognize them as LED taillights, and you are good to go. It is easy to do, just remember to do 2 sleep cycles after each change with the Tazer.

I don't know why you only had the problem with the Motobilt taillights, and not the Oracle taillights. I have Oracle taillights on my 392 and my wife's Gladiator. I had problems with the reverse lights not working on the Oracle lights that were on the Gladiator, so Oracle sent me a couple of resistors that didn't fix the problem. Then they told me how to press the pins out of the connector and switch them to the opposite positions because they had apparently wired them wrong from the factory. That fixed the problem with the Gladiator. My 392 did not have these problems but I had one taillight go out after a year and it needed replaced. I had to pay for it.

When I got around to upgrading taillights on my 2-door Jeep I wanted to try something different, so went with Motobilt High Clearance taillights. No problems with the Motobilt taillights.
