I’m lookin to get some rough country diff skids for peace of mind while exploring. But I noticed the last owner left a battle scar for me. I need to remove and reinstall with bot to attach the skid. Is this removable, or should I let my local Jeep speed shop deal with it

Just ask @cosine he knows!
You've still got a solid bolt head to get the socket on, I would take a small dremel wheel grinder around that raised area so you can have a nice flat seat to get the socket all the way down and laying flat so you won't risk rounding off that bolt head. Be sure to use a 6pt socket too. I have the front & rear Rough Country diff skids, definitely good protection and a nice price for the piece of mind.

Once you get the bolt head off I'd go ahead and take the cover off so you can also grind that area underneath the cover that's smashed just to have a good flat seal area there. It's not needed right away but when the time comes to change your diff fluid I'd do it then.

You could even use a mill bastard file to remove that burr edge, not a big deal.

@Logan-Kn

I have the stock diff covers and bolts for the Rubicon if you want/need them. I can ship them to you if you cover the shipping. If by chance you are in the Sacramento area, I can meet up with you. Let me know.
