As far as I can tell it's just floating.
I have the same winch but I'm using straps through four eye bolts, which then loop under my top. It's unclear how he's attached the top to the hoist. However, since he's lifting directly from one point it means he must have some kind of frame above the top, with the winch mounted directly above the center of gravity. Kinda unstable. Did not care for that solution myself.

He drilled a metal plate into the middle of the hardtop and then uses a electric super magnet to lift the top on and off.

Hi, hoping someone can identify what this owner is doing to hoist their hardtop. I don't see any connections or straps. But it does look like there is a wench up there.

It looks like a GarageSmart MyLIFTER system with a custom harness to lift the top. Costly but a freaking breeze to take your top off and is controlled by your phone via Bluetooth. I have one and it’s wonderful. The best $600 I’ve spent on a Jeep accessory

Just wanted to share something as an update to the GarageSmart MyLIFTER system:
If you have an JLU Hard Top and you toss the bagged panels into the storage netting - move the rack back one pin position from the recommended bolt slots for the JLU to balance the hard top out with the extra weight. It can definitely handle the top and freedom panels weight lifting it up and it keeps everything in one place out of the way.
