Brand new 2024 Willys 4 door 3.6 auto soft top here. Theoretically, my vehicle is rated at 23mpg highway. I only have 400 miles on it so I realize it's a brand new engine and mileage should increase a little once it's good and broken in, but I'm guessing this thing will never see 23mpg on the highway. Not with these heavy 33" tires and a 4.10 rear end. Maybe a 2 door sport with street tires, but not this Willys. Are there any 2024 Willys 4 door, 3.6, autos getting 23mpg on the highway? My work commute is all highway, 23 miles each way. I tried to hypermile it the other day. Didn't go over 60mph. Averaged 18.7mpg.

My 22 Willys 2 door with the 2.0 can but I don’t think a 4 door air the 3.6 can get there. Shoot for 20 mpg at best.

there is a reason there is a song titled I can't drive 55. It works. You'll die from being rear ended, but it works
I was probably the only one in the nation to be sad when they started lifting the 55 mph speed limit. I was getting really good gas mileage at that speed.

They lifted the 55mph limit?
Not in Iowa apparently.
I have to drive an hour and a half to see a 65mph sign...

Is 23 mpg a pipedream? Not with a diesel it’s not. Is get 24mpg fully modded.

I don't know why people keep bring up the diesel on here- it wasn't about that engine.
The cost savings are erased with the increased maintenance/fuel/DEF cost in the first place. And then you have the double whammy with the price of any future repairs- a EcoD turbo alone will cost you more than the entire cost of a brand new 3.6 crate engine. The EcoD crate engine will cost you $30k+ at the dealer, so the savings is just not there at all anymore.

Dear diesel owners, please only give fuel consumption figures by mass not volume. You've got a fuel that's 13% more dense.

I really don't understand people's obsession with gas mileage. What I understand even less is why folks who are inclined to obsess over gas mileage would buy a Wrangler. It's the equivalent of a calorie-counter adopting a McDonald's-only diet.

It is what it is with us. That’s why it doesn’t bother me if the mpg display is accurate or not. Using the same method, it will work for measuring improvement.

Our JLU Rubicon is a nicely equipped, hardtop, tow package. Completely stock with KO2 tires, driving conservatively I could manage a displayed 20-21 mpg.

It’s still stock at 101k miles. I’ve swapped in NGK plugs, did the unrelated oil cooler swap, and added lower rolling resistance pizza cutter size hybrid pattern AT tires, Kenda Klever RT tires that are 35x10.5R17. . I’m using the Tazer Mini to calibrate the speedometer. I changed differential fluid too. Stock 4.10 gears. I now have gained a SOLID 1 mpg gain.

I assume it being a Willys, it might have mud tires? AT tires will generally have less rolling resistance. Narrow will be even better.
