I've searched the forums for my issue with no luck. Please provide me with the thread/solution, if known.

I have a 2022 JLUR. I pair my iPhone via bluetooth to the 8.4 display. I also connect it via a cable, which engages CarPlay. I ask Siri for directions someplace. I see it on the display and I hear the step-by-step directions. My iPhone is using the Apple Maps application. All of this worked flawless for the first 8 months of ownership.

Around the beginning of the year, I have encountered an issue where everything works as expected - then something happens and I cannot hear the audio directions anymore. I could be listing to Sirius, and the music volume goes down when there is a directional instruction - but I'm not hearing it.

I think this has happened after I received a phone call. I suspect it may be related to the pairing of the phone interfering with the direct cable at the same time, but I don't really know. I looked through my Uconnect and CarPlay Settings, but didn't find anything. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill

Won't hurt, but slight chance that you may find this helps.. I've seen the process below, help for a few random issues.. The process only takes a few minutes to do.

1) Unpair your smartphone.

2) In UConnect, Smartphone Projection Manager, (see pic below) delete any and all devices listed there. (You may see more then one, even if you have only paired your smartphone)

3) Now, pair your Smartphone with your JL.

Note: After you pair your smartphone, TEST before you add/pair any other devices.

Happens to me often. I unplug the phone and plug it back in and it’s fine.

Another thing to check is the actual volume of the carplay (ie apple maps voice) setting itself. It is not intuitive as I experienced the same thing for months. What I eventually found out is that the volume for bluetooth or carplay is only adjustable during an audio event. So next time your maps starts talking (as you hear the radio dim) start turning up the volume. That will adjust the volume only while the event happens and can't be adjusted anywhere else. It is possible the volume was turned down by mistake for the radio, then a carplay audio event came on during the volume adjustment, so it got lowered instead of the radio. Wish they would include a default volume level for bluetooth or carplay which would make adjustments easier.

This happens to me occasionally. I have to delete Apple Maps and re-install from the App Store Something to try if you’re still having problems.

This works. I thought you meant turn up the volume on your phone during a map event. But it’s the Jeep audio volume you have to turn up when the maps is giving instructions.
