Just purchased my first Jeep last week. JL Sport S and I LOVE it. I am having some pretty serious loose steering issues which upon researching the issue, I stumbled onto this forum. Got an appointment with the service department today. My advice is to take it on a really good test drive at all speeds. I will post after my service appointment today. Hopefully they can get it fixed because I love everything about it but worried about how safe it is.
I understand a Jeep has a little bit of play in the steering but I’m fighting to stay straight.

Thanks for the tip! I'm really hoping I can find a dealer that will let me take one for the afternoon or even for the weekend. I refuse to make a 40k purchase on a ten minute test drive.

Also, congrats on the new Jeep! I hope they get it sorted for you. One of the JL youtubers I follow actually ended up getting replacement Jeep due to steering issues.

I've been reading a lot on here about tire pressure, but it seems to be more complicated than that. I also plan on driving a JK as well, if I think the JK drives better I may go that route. We shall see!

I took mine into to the dealer today and they adjusted the tire pressure. My last two vehicles were convertible Camaros so he said I’m just really used to a sports car. They play in the steering is because I’m now driving a vehicle designed for off roading. He said it will take a few weeks to get used to it but in the mean time, definitely pay attention when traveling at higher speeds and curves. So I guess I may want to keep the doors on until I get used to it!! Lol

Hello from VA Beach.

I traded in my 2016 Jeep SRT about 4 months ago for my 2018 JLU Rubicon. Finally got around to registering. I have lurking before I even purchased.

I got board with the SRT and wanted something more fun for the family, so went with the Jeep. Love it for everyday use, beach use, family use....all around its been awesome.

Finally got some wheels/tires/lift. I'll get some updated pics this weekend.

Just wanted to say hello and looking forward to being a part of the community.

Seems like membership is growing nicely lately but I didn't see an intro thread, so I'll start!

I'm Rob from NY. I daily a Grand Cherokee and got a project TJ SE that I've had for years and will hopefully keep forever. Was considering a JKU as a weekend outdoor activity car for the family, but figured the JL Unlimited is right around the corner so why not wait. Happy to be here for the last few months following all the great news and coverage of the JL Wrangler.
Hi all..new here... can't sleep because I pick up my new Rubicon tomorrow...4 months after ordering...

Hi Jill, I was noticing the same type of steering issues as well. I checked the tire pressure and found the tires at close to 40psi which is way over-inflated. I dropped the pressure to 36 COLD and it drives great now. It's also one of those things that after a week or two of driving it you won't even notice. My wife was complaining about how it was all over the road until I lowered the tire pressure and now she loves driving it.

New Owner, 2018 JLU Sahara In Houston TX. So far loving it but have the steering play issue with their level 2 guys are looking at. Reading above we may need to try lowering the tire pressure as I believe all of ours are hovering at the 40 psi mark.

Hello all,

New to forum. Purchased 2018 JLRU a month or so ago and loving it. Have picked up a lot of useful info in my short time reviewing posts. I look forward to sharing pics soon and building up POWDO. My Rubicon is white with tan leather. My daughter, also a JKRU owner, said that mine looked like a powdered donut...thus the nickname ;)

Hi all! Just got my first Jeep, a 2018 JL Unlimited Rubicon in Ocean Blue. I’m absolutely loving it. It has every option but sadly, I don’t have plans to off-road it besides the beach in the winter if I happen to go down on a weekend.

Hello everyone, I just joined the forum. I recently picked up my new JLUR and am enjoying it so far! I am no stranger to Jeeps, but this is by far the best one I have owned between a Jeep Commando, Cherokee Chief, and three JKU’s. So far I have installed a 2.5 lift, 37’s, spare tire extension bracket, MOPAR tailgate hinge reinforcement, and a modified JKU bikini top. There have been great suggestions on here, and look forward to learning more and sharing what knowledge I can.

Hey! , how Yinz doing? New JL owner here. After years and years of full-sized trucks, I just pulled the trigger on a black Sahara JLU. I've already found a wealth of information here on my new rig. Thanks in advance for everything!

Hey Jeep fans,
I’ve been lurking here since the new JLs came out, and just took delivery of a 2018 JLU Sport S in Firecracker Red with the 8 speed auto. It’s my first Jeep, and my wife and I love it. I may have to get her one soon too.

I had it for a day and noticed it was leaking a little oil, which I traced to the left rear shock. They’re on back order right now so the dealer put a stock Rubi shock they took off one they lifted, and I’ll have the new shock put on when they come in. That’s if I don’t lift it first

It is what it is, crap happens, and it was just a shock. Doesn’t phase my love for this rig. I could hardly sleep the night before we took delivery, and I don’t remember the last time I was that excited about a new vehicle.

It’s primarily a daily driver, but I look forward to modding/personalizing it and getting off road a little. Also look forward to learning from experienced "Jeepers" here.

Travis

Checking in. Been out of the Jeep game for 10 years. I use to be very active in the forums. Just picked up a 18 JLU Rubicon.

You are a little bit of a drive from me.. BUT if you came out to my dealership in Albany, NY we would let you take it for the afternoon... with a cash deposit of course, but I can make it happen. We have 10-15 in stock. Including a couple Sahara's with the 2.0l Turbo!
