I am 77 soon to be 78, I just bought a new 2021 Wrangler Rubicon jlur 392 XR with35's and 3-4" factory lift. Serious offroad numbers, however, I am not an off-roader, I bought it because I do like Jeeps and I like horsepower. This is maybe my 8-9th Jeep and maybe the 6th- 7th wrangler. I now think maybe I need a TJ to play a bit off-road as I will never do that with this one probably just because I paid $92K with taxes. Yes, it listed for $83K paid $4500 dealer markup and a lot of sales tax. Very expensive, but so much fun.
Now I think if I get a TJ and install some upgrades and the steering assist I invented I would like it a lot.
My oldest son has a 1998 TJ heavily modified 4" long arm lift 33's Mopar V8 and custom everything and the same steering assist. He says he has no issue driving 80 mph in the wind on I-75 and has done this with no hands. My last Wrangler was a 2018 JLR it with the same steering assist I drove 85mph on the interstate in Montana and it too handled fine. My 2008 JKU did not have the assist and it was not fun to drive expressway speeds, especially on windy days, which could be downright scary. I did have a new TJ about 2005 that I liked a lot, but it too was a hand full at speed and in the wind. Before that, I had a Jeep Scrambler (small truck), that was good looking and a bad driver that got worse when my son put very big tires on it. Today like my son's TJ that is a good driver at speed and in the wind just because he has the steering assist installed If I buy a decent TJ go over (have my grandson go over) running gear do tires and wheels and add the same steering assist I can have my real off-road usable fun toy that will be tame enough and drive good enough for this senior citizen to cruise trails and expressways like I was driving the new JLUR that I won't take off-road. I am not suffering much as I do have a CanAm Defender 1000 with heat air and tracks so we do get on the trails a bit, but a very nice TJ seems like a good idea if it can drive like my new JLUR. Old jeeps can drive like new good drivers, all Jeeps can now do that You do not have to make excuses anymore, it is a Jeep can be a good thing again.

I'd be interested to hear about the steering assist you invented. My Dad has a built TJ that doesn't handle the best when he's driving to a trail, I'm sure he would like to read about it.

A big congrats on your new Ride.. ? Also great on your age! I just turned 78 last Oct. When Jeeps gets in ones blood, then one is never to old to have some fun with them...;) Just be careful with that 392, that you don't get a neck injury from all of that power..LOL

As you mentioned the power, tonight I had my ice shoes on as our parking lot can be like an ice rink. We were going to Friday night fish fry. I pulled up the state road 32 from a local country road and as I pulled on a little anxious to get out in front of a fast-moving car my ice shoes did not give me good feedback on how far I was pushing on the GO pedal. The result was I pushed way too hard and did a drag strip launce my older wife (4 months older than me) got thrown back in the seat. That did not go over well. The 392 is a street rod and is it fun every drive every day.

I've been enjoying the hell out of my Snazzberry JLU for 14 months now. DAMN, in 43 years of driving this is the most fun I've ever had!!

Love it! I was too late for snazzberry when I was finally able to order mine, and I couldn't order the snazz pearl coat based on jeep.com's horrible color representation alone. Still haven't seen pics of the pearl coat in the wild yet.

LOVE OG snazzberry though, it was at the top of my list.

Recently relocated to Nevada. I shipped my Jeep all the way from Hawaii where I'm originally from. Bought her in 2018 and fell in love ever since.

Thanks, it's amazing how the color changes depending on the lighting. At night it's a much deeper richer color. This is a night photo from last year taken before modifications

Howdy Yโ€™all!
Hailing from South Texas, moving to Puerto Rico this summer, so we ( my wife and I got us a 2018 JLU lifted with wheels/tires, bumpers, rock rails, high lift jack ?.
Iโ€™m finally back in a Jeep after losing my 2015 Wrangler JKU in a deal gone bad with a family member. Anywhoโ€ฆ! This jeep has some odd (to me) upgrades and one I canโ€™t figure out. Iโ€™ll post in general discussion about. But Iโ€™m glad I found this group, seems like any questions I have will find an answer lol.

P.S. We need a name for our Jeep ?
