G’day all. New to REAL Jeeps just the last few weeks, after denying myself for 42 years and in Central NC. I did previously have 3 GC’s tho, so I’m not a total barbarian.
New to me is a 2017 rubicon, 4 door, 6 speed manual. Took her down to her sexy naked self and hit the road. I found the liner inside the “trunk” area pulled out from the rear door frame and billowing with road wind like an airport wind sock! I’m thinking it is an adhesive fail? If so, what is the best bet? Tempted to use 2-part epoxy, but that’s a little bit too forever. Thinking something that will hold, but could be pulled back if needed then reapplied. Suggestion?
Thanks in advance!

The “trunk” (if you’re talking about the under deck storage area in the rear) is a plastic tub set in and glued to a hole in the floor. The JK used a single sheet metal stamping for the entire rear floor, but the JL has a plastic drop in piece for some reason. If you look underneath above the muffler, it’s absolutely goobered with rubberized adhesive. If it’s under warranty, just take it in. If not, just push it back into place and smear some more adhesive on it to seal it.

EDIT: …..yeah, that’s much worse. Looks like the inner fender is cracked. I don’t believe there’s seam in that area, it looks like it just split open.

That’s definitely a dealer job if it’s under warranty, or a body shop if it’s not. I wouldn’t think that area is structural, but something split it good. At the very least, you could put some aluminum speed tape on it to keep water/ wind out until you get someone to change that section out.

Perhaps my communication prowess is only matched by that of my photography talent? All you’re seeing there is wiring. My problem is that felt/fabric stuff filling up with air like a drag chute.

Ohhhhh…… with the doors off?

Yeah, there’s nothing really holding the carpet in there except it’s molded shape and the snug fit in the tub. Mine is very snug, and is actually difficult to remove by hand. It should stuff firmly into that area on the back side of the rolled sheet metal edge.

You could try/use Velcro strips. One side on carpet and other on body area. My YJ factory carpet had some places with Velcro attachments as such. It was from factory

Thanks TOO! I Guess I was over-engineering.
