I got the hooke road inner fender liners installed about 2 years ago. Ive been having issues with a clunking type noise when going over bumps/holes in the road (my street definitely needs to be paved) and even over speed bumps. Originally i thought some of the bolts were loose (but they are all tightened) any other idea what this can be? Video posted of the sound from INSIDE of the jeep. Surprisingly, it sounds worst inside, than outside.

I’ve got artec aluminum liners, and they are noisy as well. On small bumps, you’d swear the trackbar bolts are loose 😔. I really wish paramount hadn’t discontinued the plastic liners.

Not sure what the attachment points are on the Hooke inners, but I had popping from one bolt on that attached on the frame on the front Motobilt liners. It would loosen over time and pop as the body and frame moved. I installed a rivnut and some blue loctite and so far no issues.

Some general info here https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/aal-front-inner-fenders-popping.81997/
Thank you i am going to take a look. For some reason i cant upload the video here

My issue was a single pop if the body was twisted, not a more constant noise like that. Hopefully someone watching the video can help

Yea this is just a thing with metal liners it seems. Once you start modding anything you are gong to lose the factory quietness and fit/finish just something that you either spend a ton of time figuring out and fixing or turn the radio up and move on. My Motobilts make the same noise on occasion but have stopped it seems so its fixed itself.

They are steel though :( its so weird because its only the driver side everything else seems to be fine. I was thinking maybe the bolts need some wd40 lol. A few of them seem to be rusted.

Maybe remove that side and drive it to confirm the noise stopped. Also look at the backside for any indications of where it might be making contact.

yea steel is metal ...

Youre replacing a plastic part that flexes and moves with the body with a rigid metal part that you install through holes that arent meant for what you are doing, as well as bolting said rigid metal part from the body to the frame which arent a singular unit and will flex and move against each other. That is going to cause some weird binding and possibly popping noises. You can fight with it by loosening the liners, try to re-seat them so they may not rub against each other causing the pop until it might go away, you can put rubber pieces between where 2 parts of the liner may touch, you can grease the whole thing, but its possible to still pop the rest of the life of the Jeep.

Just kind of the name of the game with aftermarket parts, nothing is going to be perfect no 2 Jeeps are the same.
