Can I get some info on putting your 392 into forced 2wd? Does it improve fuel economy? Does it improve performance? Is it just to reduce wear and tear? Curious and looking for insight, thank you for any info.
This is just personal belief here so take it for what it's worth. Upon delivery, I immediately purchased a tazer as I have done so for any jeep in the past for many other reasons.
Read around online about clutch packs in the transfer case and decided to force 2wd. However, after a month or two and reality hitting me that I am almost never full throttle, decided to run it in 4auto as normal.
Once in the dirt, I'm always in 4wd (4 part time) anyway. Definitely not a "im only in 2wd" type of guy. Improving performance in force 2wd, no..... you will slip tires from a standstill in 2wd. Gas mileage, not even sure I believe it all rounds out about the same when driving pretty slow.
I think the 4auto light on the dash is more annoying as it flickers (verified by ZAutomotive that this is normal) on and off frequently while in 2wd.
I am also running the tazer. Been in two- wheel drive for the last 5k miles. Even with 37 inch mud terrains almost impossible not to spin the back tires. Wet roads are even funner to take off. I will say I like the way it steers in two-wheel drive. Winter is coming so I will be switching back to 4 by soon. Can't imagine doing two-wheel on snowy roads.
