I received a new IPass (toll transponder, EZPass affiliate) sticker recently, they do the RFID sticker rather than a transponder. I applied it kinda sorta as instructed, but then got the nasty gram saying that the system wasn’t picking it up, they were tolling me via license plate and I needed to order a new sticker and mount it better.

Not sure where to put it. They said “behind the rear view mirror” but also more than 2-3” from windshield rail and 6” from any electronics. Thats basically in the center of my windshield lol.

Where do you guys put these things, especially with the radar cruise?

Current location (sorry it’s a dark rainy night)

This doesn’t help OP, but I have the exact same issue on my 24 with all the electronics and my sticker is in a similar location. I’m hoping someone has figured this out.

You put the sticker right over the in-windshield radio antennae (The yellow line you see). That's probably why it isn't working. You need to put it down lower on the windshield.

Correct. When your transponder is at it's end of life, iPass will send you the new transponder sticker by mail and you activate it and then use that going forward. It could be years before you get the sticker.

I currently have the transponder and keep it in my glove box, sticking it on the dash when I have to cut through Chicago. It is nice that I can toss it in any car if I'm heading in that direction. When they eventually force me to have the sticker, I wonder if I can put it on a piece of cardboard so I can still toss it on the dash and easily switch between vehicles. Not a solution for someone living in Arlington Heights though.

If I switch to the driver’s side and put it up as high as possible in the blacked out section, would that work better do you think?

I think mine is in the same spot, but I don't have the window antenna being a 2020. No problems outside of how horrible it looks. What a shit state ....

But not until the expiration of the transponder. Users will be notified. I, for one, aam not enthusiastic about this switch. OTOH, we don't travel the tollways very often.

The instructions specifically state to keep it something like 3" away from anything else, so don't put it at the very top of your windshield.

Not very helpful for the OP that has the antenna in the windshield and the adaptive cruise box.

The issue is there's not much room to avoid these items. The windshield itself is not that big.

Exactly. If I followed all of the directions it would be in basically the center of the windshield. So trying to figure out what works best.

The instructions specifically state to keep it something like 3" away from anything else, so don't put it at the very top of your windshield.
The instructions also say to put it in the black sections on the windshield, which conflict with the “not within 3” of other items” guidance.

I will agree with your sentiment. Had a long running ordeal with Illinois tollway. Began receiving statements for fees from the tollway based on photographs of offending vehicle. The plate they claimed was mine was off by one letter, E to F. My plate which had not been registered in years was and is still mounted to the garage wall. One of many. After 3 attempts with tollway service reps I gave up trying to resolve, still more statements arrived.

Several months later it was sent to collections. This after 3 reps stated to me that the photograph shows the different letter than my plate. Maybe 3 dozen offenses billed to me. Anyway after sending postal mail to Illinois Tollway and collection agency in Pennsylvania threatening legal action, they threw in the towel without an apology.

Wonder how many other folks have payed such a bogus billing from the Illinois Tollway.
