So, I'm ordering the 440 lb. electric hoist, 2 10'x1 load lift slings, and carabiners. looks easy and low cost. Fingers crossed.

Have you built the Topsy DIY plans with Strut yet? I'm thinking about it, but I'm trying to find the solution that will allow me to lift the top as close to the ceiling as possible. I have a finished ceiling (drywall) that I'd prefer not to cut into, which probably means mounting a winch on the side wall and using pulleys.
Not yet. Probably a couple of weeks before that happens. I have a finished ceiling with no attic space above. I will either mount electric hoist to side wall or ceiling on 2x material screwed to studs. Won’t cut into sheetrock but if ever removed there will be a few screw holes to fill.
