• I'm single, so I had to do something about all this disposable income.
• Same as above, so nobody wanted me to get side curtain air bags.
• It's a hybrid, so I obviously wanted to virtue signal but couldn't bear driving a Prius.
• My parents drove Jeeps and 4x4s; my older brother is car-free in the city so this is my way to score the inheritance.
• I'd be genuinely terrified to break a Subaru in rural WV, I doubt anyone in 100 miles knows WTF those are.

What I told my wife… we need a ‘toad’ behind our recently acquired small RV and the only options were a Jeep or a Honda 2014 CRV or older (for flat towing) and that wasn’t an option for me. Little did she know there was an ulterior motive.
