2019 Sport S, manual 3.6L

Just had a regear done and the shop used an HP Tuner to calibrate for the new gearing and my 33s.

After a minute of driving, I get the “service auto stop start system warning” and the gear indicator above the odometer changes from showing the gear I’m in to just two dashes. Also, if I don’t turn the Jeep off and go into reverse, the rear camera does not come on and the backup lights do not come on, acting like the Jeep doesn’t know it’s in reverse although mechanically it is. All other systems, indicators, menus, etc seem ok. If I turn the Jeep off then on, everything is normal until the warning pops back up.

Shop says they’ve never seen this. Thoughts?

This happened when I went to bigger tires and reset the size with the Tazer. Easy to fix, just follow the above instructions. ZAutomotive also has the instructions in their documentation.

BTW, I never disconnected my battery. I don't think that's necessary.

Did the shop perform the 6th gear relearn procedure? If not, see attached.
I don’t know but will ask. Where do that procedure come from?

Thanks all, they did not do that so will when it’s back for the 500mile fluid change.

Sorry I don’t follow, I don’t have a Tazer or any other programmer. The shop did the programming so they’ll have get it set right, correct?
The relearn process is the same regardless. It's something that needs to be done when you change the tire size regardless whether a tuner was used to do it. Steps 3-5 at my link mirror the document that was shared previously except I never had to disconnect the battery to get it fixed.

Basically, you need to get it up to highway speed in 6th gear for 30 seconds or so to allow the computer to relearn what top gear is. Why? No idea. A quirk of the Jeep software.

Ok so I’ve driven it at highway speeds for hours, but sounds like I need to…
-turn it on, let the radio boot up
-turn it off
-turn it on again, then drive highway speed
-turn it off

Any idea what the two sleep cycles are?

That's walking away from the Jeep with your key (if you have the proximity entry) so that it fully shuts off, usually 90 seconds after you're out of range. Then come back, turn it back on, let the radio boot up, and do it again.

Got it.

Any idea if there is a set time for getting up to highway speed? Do I need to do this on the side of the highway/road? Usually the error comes up within a minute or so.

I did it in my driveway and then drove 3 miles to my nearest highway on ramp. I think the trick is getting between the 40-80mph range with your foot lightly on the accelerator as if you're just maintaining the speed. If you've got a 40mph road near you that should do as well. As long as you're in 6th.

Boo, didn’t work. Couldn’t get to a road with the speed needed fast enough. Did another cycle on the side of the road and it didn’t work. Will have to try again. Maybe the crankiness is stuck in the computer now and needs to have a battery disconnect cycle too.

Bah, that's annoying. Yeah, give the battery disconnect a try. Remember, there's two batteries and you have to disconnect them both to do it completely.
