My wife is gone on a 4 day quilting retreat with her girlfriends. I am cleaning up wheels and getting ready to mount 40s on my bead lock wheels. The bead lock rings have seen better days. So, I used a 120 grit sanding wheel on the rings and then washed them in the dishwasher. I also clean guns in the dishwasher.

The rings were looking like this.

After sanding them and running them through the dishwasher, they are looking like this.

Trying to decide if I should sand them with a fine grit sand paper and rubbing compound to get them to a mirror finish and then fill in the scars with a red paint, and seal with a clearcoat, Think like paint the scars, then use a flat sander to take all the red off the flat surfaces. Might look cool?

Tell me about your redneck monuments.

My wife gets annoyed with me for commandeering kitchen utensils for project repairs.

I like the idea. Battle scars are cool.

Of course, my early all-purpose repair essentials included beer cans, bailing wire, and duct tape, so I’m not a great match for 2026.

In my much younger and broker days I filled my garage air compressor at home and threw it in the back of the truck. Stashed it at the trailhead to refill my tires after the trail.

Deer heads in the dishwasher is the winning redneck thing right now. I am sure someone on the forum has out rednecked that somehow.

Not guns with wood, Glocks, Sig, stainless steel guns ARs yup. They come out super clean. Then I dry them with compressed air or a leaf blower. Re-lube them and they are good to go.

Optics and lights are removed.

I once shot a rat in a bathtub with my .22 pistol so my mom could take a shower..
Growing up poor white trash on the banks of the Mississippi I've seen some pretty redneck shit...
Then I moved to Florida and learned the true meaning of the word...

My old Army buddy used our house as a deer stand of sorts. One morning before PT I walked into the kitchen to see Chuck at full draw with his bow, aiming through the open kitchen window above the sink. He passed on the shot, but only because we had to get to work, and the doe wasn't that tempting to him. I think if I hadn't interrupted him by walking out when I did, he would have taken that shot.

I have shot woodchucks in the hay field from my living room through the open sliding glass door.

My Weimaraner broke a woodchuck's neck and dropped it at the sliding door, does that count?

There’s a bunch of amateurs here and the level of redneckery is disappointing, but I’ll fix that now…

I grew up in Mineral Wells, Tx where we had to save up to be broke and resourcefulness was a way of life.

Anything that walked, crawled, swam, slithered or flew was fair game and usually good eating. That is everything but Squirrel, Possum and Raccoon as they’re bony and high in cholesterol, but they're the easiest to catch. Deer, Turkey, Chicken and Rabbit were great when you could get them.

Vehicles, to use the term loosely, were lumped into two categories, running and close to running. On any given day, a vehicle could be in either category and you’d be lucky if it switched sides when not in motion. There was the occasion where the transmission in the Dodge 150 decided to self select on I-20 at 70mph. Code brown…

School was fun. We had small classes, everyone knew everyone and there was a good chance the cute girl in math was a cousin. Dating was an art form as much as it was a game of chance. we had a science fair in 10th grade and my project centered around matter changing states - turning corn from a solid to liquid to gas back to liquid. I won second prize but that was the las time Corn stills were allowed in the science fair.
