How long can you avoid the U-Connect update

My 2024 JLU with the 12.4 system has been annoying me with a U-Connect update screen. Given all the problems with it that I see folks reporting here, I'd just as soon not do it. How long can I get away with that? Also, I don't have the wi-fi hot spot enabled, so how would I get it done anyway?

Can’t answer the first question, but as to how it could update, mine can connect to my home WiFi….

2021 Willys Sport EcoDiesel with Uconnect 3.5 on the 5" screen.

No Wi-Fi connects for my Wrangler, so long as I stay away from dealership's, I'll never get another update!

Hotspot does not affect the ability of the Jeep Wi-Fi to download anything.
A hot spot just allows other devices to use the Jeep Wi-Fi
