Hood silencer

Ordered a new hood silencer. This is the second one. They deteriorate very fast. New one on the way. Anyone know if there is a product available to spray on it to make it last longer? Thanks.

Do you mean the insulative lining that is attached on the underside of the hood? If so, what might've contributed to the original's abbreviated service life?

My 2019's still looks fine, I believe it works fine. I splash through mud puddles, and slush, and just generally drive like an idiot. It's not clean but it's not falling apart either. I wonder what the difference is between ours. I've got the 3.6L, maybe you have an engine that has higher under hood temps?

I've got a 2.0T 2019 with ~53k miles and it looks and feels pretty new. I was able to remove it and reinstall it without it falling apart or showing any wear. I've gotten it muddy and sprayed it down directly with water to clean it several times.

Maybe it's some bugs or rodents eating it? Maybe some cleaning products you've used on it? Can you show us what your deteriorated one looks like?

Yes! The dealer ordered it for me as a hood silencer which is how it’s listed. It seems to be pretty fragile. Maybe I got a bad one. I will compare the two when the new one arrives. Be at dealership on 23rd according to parts dept.

I have the 3.6.

Something seems suspect then. Without having pictures of the damage my first guess is you got a rodent problem, or perhaps it got hit with high pressure water like from a car wash.
