I'm looking to get a trektop for my jeep. looking online there are two different materials available with about a 400 price difference. That's enough for me to question what is the difference between the 28oz black diamond and the 30oz twill materials?

I only have the twill soft top (factory) on my JL. On my TJ I had the diamond for years and switched to twill about a year ago.

The twill is quieter, on my TJ it is a lot quieter. It also looks more like a traditional convertible top, and it is thicker. Some people say it’s harder to clean, but I wheel my TJ and don’t find cleaning to be a problem. Because it’s thicker it takes up slightly more room when folded.

For what it’s worth my JL is super quiet. I can easily talk hands free on my phone at 70+ mph speeds. Something I could never do in the TJ (even with the twill top).

You're not going to find many people who have run both materials on their JL, probably. Lots have had the cheaper stuff on older jeeps, though. But the answers generally point toward the twill being worth the upcharge over the long run. For me, I was honestly surprised at how thick the material is. If you're planning on going with it for 3+ years, I would feel more confident of the twill's ability to last.

(I can't speak to ease of cleaning because I let the rain do that lol)
