You folks should monitor the thread on hardtop wind noise. This seems to be a persistent issue with new JL’s and imho should be qc’d before cars are delivered
I too have a lot of wind noise with my hardtop. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks very much for the update. I think we all would appreciate it if you might let all of us know (proactively) when you are made aware of any production delays. The level of interest, anticipation and frustration here is pretty apparent.
Hi FormerlyMort,

I understand this is taking longer than anticipated and we want to be able to provide an exact date. However, all order processes are unique, especially with a new launch. I'm very sorry we cannot provide a more concrete time frame.

sorry, but avoiding any form of direct answers with this somewhat opaque excuse is a huge disservice to your brand. as of today, you’ve likely generated over a thousand online complainers slamming jeep all over the tubes

my advice is to contact production leads and deliver some form of tangible production estimates for 2-doors - of any kind, and without the “unique process” excuses - there are many folks in need of a new vehicle, versus pure want, and it appears that the online chat reps and dealers are all misinformed and stringing people along with about ten different storylines

again, my advice: be truthful, honest, and forthcoming about 2-door production. your integrity will pay dividends to your brand for years to come.

If you read her response carefully, you can easily see that they don't know, and she's trying to explain exactly why. If you are in "need" of a new vehicle, as opposed to just "wanting" one, then I'd suggest finding a JL that is in stock at a dealership. There are plenty of them out there now. I passed three Jeep dealerships on my way to Michigan this weekend, and each had at least one JL in stock. Two of them were Rubicons, and one was a Sport. Those were just the ones out front.

I think they are doing the best they can and are genuinely helping some people with deeper issues than just "When will my Jeep get here!"

I don't think implying or outright charging them with lying is productive, and I don't think it is accurate, either.

Hi Kenc,

Please send us a direct message expanding on where the noise is coming from. I tried to look for the thread with other members experiencing this and couldn't find it. If you get a chance, would you mind directing them into a direct message to provide more information?

Thanks,

Mine is coming from the front, right where the hard top meets the windshield. I'm not sure it is abnormal, though. I have to drive it back to back with my JK. I'll then decide if it is enough to send a PM to you. I'm hearing that some have tightened a couple bolts and reduced the noise. I think I've only experienced it in crosswinds or gusts, and I don't think there is much to be done about that.

Jeep Wrangler JL Hello From JeepCares 15520

Hey @JeepCares,

I'm sure you all have seen the many threads on this forum discussing 2dr JL production/ delivery dates. One Jeep rep was quoted on the Jeep online chat as saying that 2 doors won't begin production until mid/ late March and won't be delivered until 10-12 weeks later (see above screenshot posted by a different user). After doing some quick math, that puts 2dr delivery out to late May/ early June at the earliest. Can you all please provide some clarity on this? Not to be dramatic, but a lot of folks who ordered 2drs in January (or earlier) are freaking out that it could take 6+ months until they take delivery of their orders.

Thank you in advance

oh, not accusing them of lying at all - that’s not what opaque implies - and i’m fine waiting for months, just watching tons of people quoting chat threads and messages from jeep with a variety of explanations.

there is one explanation, and it might come directly from production. they can explain the variables in all of the custom configs and lay out practical and realistic expectations. the people who know the most (in production) seem to be absent, and their agents appear misinformed

I don’t remember where I heard this, but months ago I recall hearing that 2 dr JL’s wouldn’t start until 2018 JK’s stop production which I remember being in March I think.

Wow. Thanks Jasmine and Julie. I have been a "Jeeper" for many years and never knew of any "Corporate" responses in forums or even any indication that they were aware of the forums! I know that much good will come from you "guys" doing this! Thanks again!

I had a 2008 JKUR that also had a "wind noise" on the freeway--

I moved both front doors UPPER BODY HINGES---inward 1/8" and that stopped the wind trouble, however, I have read of some front/top windshield area noise and mostly from improper installation of freedom tops-

JL/JK ---JKU same design, same troubles-

Good luck

Hi Gandersonsays,
We can confirm that the 2 Door model will not launch until the beginning of March. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to send us a PM so it does not get lost on this thread.

My take on this excessive delay of the 2 door, with no explanation, has to do directly with upper management in FCA. Upper management I’m referring to is anybody up the corporate ladder above JeepCares.

There’s no reason, that WE can see and and don’t understand, why they can’t tell us why this delay is happening. We’ve already read of vendor’s inability to reach component production quotas. Short on LED’s, manual trannies and hardtops are just some of the shortcomings.

This entire forum is counterproductive concerning production in that JeepCares says; we don’t know, then they say the beginning of March. There are other threads where supposedly official FCA dealers and Reps have stated the middle to the end of March. Most people would understand this is not the best way to accurately inform the brand’s loyal patronage.

So yes there are a lot of people, including myself, that are beginning to get a little bit more than upset with this delay. This just leads me back to my original paragraph; obviously FCA knows there is a problem. As passingnotes states above and I wholeheartedly agree, why can’t FCA management be a lot more transparent and inform JeepCares? There would be a hell of a lot less upset people.

sorry, but avoiding any form of direct answers with this somewhat opaque excuse is a huge disservice to your brand. as of today, you’ve likely generated over a thousand online complainers slamming jeep all over the tubes

my advice is to contact production leads and deliver some form of tangible production estimates for 2-doors - of any kind, and without the “unique process” excuses - there are many folks in need of a new vehicle, versus pure want, and it appears that the online chat reps and dealers are all misinformed and stringing people along with about ten different storylines

again, my advice: be truthful, honest, and forthcoming about 2-door production. your integrity will pay dividends to your brand for years to come.
It’s funny you think production leads would provide tangible advice, this all has to do with procurement, scheduling, and component availability. Production doesn’t control this, they assemble based on just in time (JIT) information. A 2dr is very unique from a 4dr. I am pretty sure the original intent of the Jeep Cares program and there live chat wasn’t to provide this type of detailed information everyone is looking for.

Working in the auto industry for quite some time even during normal production there are always changes to mixes and delays due to component shortages, quality issues that require quarantine and rework, and a multitude of other factors.

If the best information they have right now is mid to late March with a 10-12 wk lead time, going to different chat agents every day asking the same questions and then getting upset about the answers isn’t going to speed up the process. Plan end of March and 12wks.
