Hi everyone,

I've got the regular JL Rubicon factory wheels which I've had painted black and I wanted to swap my silver lug nuts out for black lug nuts.

After waiting an eternity for the new black lug nuts to arrive from Quadratec all the way over to the UK, I'm not sure they're safe to use ?

I saw a similar thread but the cone and nut size appear different to mine so I thought I'd post a new topic.

The nuts I ordered were these Gorilla "Factory Style Acorn" ones, and the Quadratec web sites states "18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL" so I assumed they'd be ok: https://www.quadratec.com/p/gorilla...-23pc-kit-78-hex-14mm-x-1-19-jeep-wrangler-jl

The new black ones are 22mm, the same as my silver ones, but the shape of the cone has me concerned.

My eye is telling me the angle is the same and it's just the length of the cone that's different, but you know what it's like once that seed of doubt has been planted in your mind ?

Do these look safe to use on the factory wheels?

Advice very much welcomed, before my wheels fall off ?

I tell ya, just when you think you've seen it all, there's a web site that you can upload a picture to and it overlays a protractor!! ?

This then confirms what my eye couldn't, they're both 60 degrees.

I guess the question is now simply, does the cone length make a difference? Would you consider these safe to use?

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Yep, your good to go... Just be sure you torque to spec and re-check t 500 miles.
Yep, and remember the JLs have a lot more torque req'd for the lug nuts 130 ft lbs.

And you got about the best lug nuts out there, so good choice!

Not sure how wheel theft is over there but you might want to get a 5 pack of Gorilla locking lug nuts to go with those just to make a thief maybe think twice before trying to steal them.
