Hardtop Creaking and Popping

Not sure why people are talking about a noisy motor, that's not the issue. My freedom panels were squeaking, a bit of grease put a stop to that. Now the back is loud so I will grease the back window and where the hard top meets the body if needed.

I got the same answer from my local dealer in Boston area. I had creaking noise from the hardtop from the second week of brand new purchase. Then I installed a roof rack , just like many other jeep owners would do , and the creaking noise is just a never-ending issue. Took it to the local dealer, the immediate answer I got was, the noise is coming from the rack you put on . Come on Jeep.... I know there is flex and movement everytime the car roll over bumps or uneven road surface, that cause panels to rub aginst each other. but cant you jeep engineers install a better rubber seals or foams on all contact area ?

My TJ’s hardtop creaked and groaned too.

This worked for me, drove me crazy til I determined it was the back glass squeaking. Added sil-glyde along the seal & no problems last two years:
