The scams are getting better everyday.
But they're not. This is the same scam that's been running for years on social media. They just keep finding uninformed people to take advantage of.

The real target are crypto apps on mobile phones. Once they force a victim to make a transfer, the funds can never be recovered.

So if someone agrees to meet in person, it’s best to delete banking and crypto apps before the meet up, or hide the bank accounts on the apps at a minimum.
How does being in person put your banking and crypto apps at risk? Are you thinking people hand their phones over?

Beware of take-off sales, specially from the Southern California area. They’ll ask to meet in person, never provide an e-mail address or corroborating information.
They use a cell phone number for calls and texts, and they’ll ask for a shipping address or to know where you live, or they’ll provide a meet-up point.

Once you meet up, they’ll force you into your mobile phone and banking information. This is coming from state and local law enforcement agencies.
Citation? Scammers tend to want to avoid in-person meetups because of the risk of a sting. They tend to prefer something they can do entirely over the internet as they are often not even in the same country. In-person coercion is FAR more dangerous to them.

That said, having a large amount of crypto controllable via your phone is a risk in general given the unrecoverable nature of the transactions.

That’s what I don’t get, too.

I’m WAY more dangerous in person. My phone/computer skills are more limited…

Right? Like tell them you want to meet at a local cop shop and bring cash. If they are willing to show up there and try to scam you shit gets to go down.

Man, that's really frustrating to read. Sorry you got burned like that. Unfortunately, we've seen more counterfeit and scam listings pop up lately, especially on social media marketplaces where it's easy to hide behind fake or blocked profiles. Hopefully you're able to get your money back through your payment provider...

Whenever you're ready to replace them, feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help get you into a set of ORACLE Flush Tail Lights and include a discount to help take a little of the sting out of the situation. Wishing you the best of luck getting everything sorted out!

They'll attempt to require you to send a 'deposit' or some such nonsense due to 'I've been burned before by no-show; I'm almost there send it now'. They have an answer to everything..

Then say no? Not saying its not a good thing for people that have gotten caught up in the scams but if something feels bad it probably is. If they really want to sell it they will wait.
