I searched and searched.
Are there any aftermarket skids that you remove /replace the factory ones? It seems most companies you end up adding their skids over the factory. I would rather not carry twice the weight if possible.
The only one I think that kinda assesses this it atrec?
Thanks

I usually make my own. I would be scared to surf the inter-webs for 3rd party skids.

Artec and NVM replace the factory gas tank skid. Look for "increases ground clearance 3/4" over factory".

Edit: Asfir does not. Metalcloak does not best I can tell. The arguments I have seen for keeping the factory gas tank skid are that it supports the tank and to keep the gas tank cooler. No idea how relevant that is. Supposedly ground clearance loss is minimal but I do not know numbers (I have asked Metalcloak). It's hard for me to tell if losing an inch'ish under the tank is significant compared to all the other stuff hanging down there.

The factory skid is pretty thin so you wouldn't be doubling the weight, more like 50% increase for Metalcloak (steel), less for Asfir (Al).

Part of the reason I chose the Artec is because it replaced the OEM skid, and because it was aluminum. Not sure about the NVM, but they make some good quality parts.

I did a ton of research and went with Metalcloak Undercloak.

For the wheeling I do I wanted the toughness that metal provides, plus the little details of the Metalcloak setup ie boat sided design, skid guard washers etc.

Think weight is over blown. To be honest the only change I felt in driving was flatter cornering, think it lowers COG a smidge.

Ground clearance loss is minimal (I run 37s and a lift so not particularly worried here)
