I am considering a dash cam for the Jeep. I don't really care about having a screen so I'm leaning toward something smaller and more discreet like the Garmin Mini 2 or Mini 3. For those who have had experience with them, would you recommend them or not? If not, something similar?

I'm running with BlackVue DR900X. Newer models now. Tucks up behind my rear view mirror so I don't see it. Mounted the rear cam on my roll bar. Not ideal rear view but allows me to take my hardtop off without complication.

I have the Garmin mini 2. I would recommend if you want a tiny bare bones dash cam. Like you, I didn’t care for a screen. I’ve had it for a couple years now with the parking mode OBD 2 connector.

Mine is routed behind the upper trim, behind the grab handle, through the dash and connected to the obd2 port. Doesn’t fit behind mirror due to the ACC box. It’ll be hidden if you don’t have the box. I hardly notice it, definitely not an eye sore. It’s always on for those just in case moments and the voice commands work good enough for me. No issues with battery drain either.

Trial it out and see if you like it

Thanks. I had considered the OBDII option but wondered about the drain on the battery even with the 24 hour option. I'm glad to hear it hasn't affected yours
