So...I'm trying to put an additive into my fuel tank using a plastic long-necked funnel, but there is an internal obstruction as a built-in safeguard. How do I get something, other than a fuel station diesel hose, to access the tank? Obviously the filler hose is designed specifically for the job, but my funnel is not.

Bone-headed question from a first time first diesel owner.

Disregard: I found the adapter near the jack. :)

Here is a pic of the adapter @rickinAZ eventually found. It's easy to overlook. The adapter is usually stashed by the factory in the area where the scissor jack is. The black adapter, will be in a clear plastic baggy.

Unfortunately that fuel adapter is too short really. They should’ve made one longer than angles up

@JeepVT

There are other aftermarket / different brands of fuel adapters available, that guys have purchased and like better / do the job better..

Some guys have actually changed out the plumbing lets call it on the JL, so they do not need a fuel adapter at all.

I seem what people do to change out the guts of the fuel plumbing but that doesn’t interest me. If you know if a different adapter please post it here. I’ve got to find one for the diesel that works

I will let other's here chime in (they will) and tell you what aftermarket fuel adapter they use/ prefer/that they have found works best..

For those that would be interested in reworking the plumbing so to speak, so no funne/adapter is needed, read here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...e-filler-neck-for-large-diesel-nozzles.48252/

For those that plan to just use the provided "funnel" you might like to know (in case you want a repleacement or extra on hand) that the fuel funnel is

2020-2022 Jeep Fuel Tank Filler Tube Funnel.... Part# 68246866AA
This funnel retails for about $3.00.

Too funny. They did NOT include this on my export 2.2L diesel! I found out the hard way on a trail an trying to refill from my 20L Jerry can. The rubber and metal spout would not hit all three prongs at once.... so a long screwdriver and hammer sorted the opening...

I'll have to see if they should have included one with my Rubi when new...

Glad to know there is actually a fix for this.

Cheers,
