I've been kicking around the idea for a couple days now about biting the bullet and seeing if this Mopar fuel filler neck would work in the 3.0 EcoDiesel Wrangler.

I was reading on the RAM forums that for a while there the capless filler necks were available on all of the 1500 diesels, but are now available with the gassers as well.

I think given what my other options are, for a capless fuel filter neck that will potentially work with the Wrangler, so far this is my best idea/option.

Does anyone have a 1500 with this capless fuel filter neck?

Or does anybody have any inner diameter outer diameter dimensions of the Wrangler Eco diesel fuel neck?

EDIT: I will add that the general consensus on the RAM forums seems to be that these things suck. I don't know why people think they suck, but at $30 each, they could break a couple times and I'd be cool with it. ?

My wife’s previous Honda had a cap less filler. Never had a problem.

You're not concerned about dirt getting in? It looks like it would settle on the lip.
I'd be apt to give it a try. Realistically speaking dirt already settles in that general area behind the fuel door anyways.

Plus I already do it pretty good job of keeping that area of the Jeep clean for obvious reasons.

Technically speaking, by adding the green cap to a capless filler like the Amazon one, would basically be switching out one capped filler neck for another.

It's honestly not about ease, it's honestly only about doing something different.

For whatever reason one One of the things I love about the EcoDiesel Wrangler is just how many mods which are for the RAM EcoDiesels, are applicable to both vehicles even though they don't state it as such. I'll probably go ahead with the Amazon option evening. I just need to get back to the Jeep after work and inspect the fuel filler neck area and just make sure that it will work.

;)

My 2015 Ram 2500 with the Cummins had the capless neck.

Only issue would be adding additives and filling from a jug. There are 2 flappers with a vent/hole between them, have to get past the 2nd flapper or you make a mess. My Ram came with a funnel just for that.

I never had any other issues for the 5 years we owned it.

Yep, in that general area, but by default there's a big screw-on cap that keeps that dirt/sand/dust out of the neck. I guess your fuel filter will catch it.

Well no, it has that green cap which fits into the new filler neck, so that would stop any dust and debris getting into the filler tube.

Really when you get right down to it, I'm just trading one setup for another, realistically speaking it's basically the same thing, just a new look.

Ahhh, that slides in and protects it. Got it. No strap?

A new look that only you see? I'm not sure that I've ever done something just for looks where I was the only one that would see it.

I obviously need to stop trying to figure out why you do things ;)

Exactly! You have to remember who you're talking too. Destroying 70 years of technology one mod at a time. ?

Due to the unusually high crime (encouraged by Grab You Some, Newsom) here in my state. I went with the Mopar OEM 68357476ac locking fuel cap. 18 gal will set you back $100.00 It was added security to my previously installed Mopar OEM hood lock. Both are keyed to my fob key. Keeping a clean and simple. One key fits all.
