Frozen Charging plug

I've searched multiple queries and can't find anything .

We recently upgraded from our 18 to a 24 Willy 4xE. We had some really wet snow and rain this weekend with a slight warm up and a drastic dip in temperature last night. This caused our level 2 charger to freeze up and get stuck to the jeep socket

Anyone dealt with this and have a remedy for the future to prevent it? I pulled the panel and warmed it with a hair dryer which worked fine but I'd prefer a way to prevent it

Happened to me only once, when I had the jeep charging in the driveway while it snowed. I'm pretty sure snow/ice got jammed under the charging handle latch, because when I went to push the button it didn't want to move. I was able to warm it up enough with my hands to get it to release.

It hasn't happened again, despite frequently leaving my vehicle outside to charge overnight. So I'm not too worried, but it might not be a bad idea to carry a few of those disposable hand warmer pouches. They might come in useful when at a hotel or other outdoor charger.

My buddy used to armor-all his door seals every winter since he had to park outside to keep the doors from icing shut. He never had a stuck door. Wondering if the same approach to the socket might help.

My super fancy solution was to tie a plastic grocery bag around the handle. Never had a problem again.

Two full winters now 100% parked outside in Michigan and 100% on charger when parked at home. Never had this problem. I would not suggest doing any unwieldy plastic bags etc.. for something that is a rare fluke. It is likely the latch on the top of the handle that is freezing and preventing removal (once I did get a bit of a pop pushing harder than normal on the button to free it up) so as one member said just store something in he car that if it ever does happen you can use it to melt the ice around the handle latch. I'm sure many of us back in the day had a door that wouldn't open or a key hole that froze up once in a blue moon.
