Well, the inevitable happened this weekend (I think!) and we tore a CV boot on the Sahara 4xe whilst out and about at Big Bear Saturday. I was under the Jeep yesterday after we got home trying to find the source of a clunk in the front end (think it's the ball joints, again) when I noticed the pile of grease on the steering knuckle. Luckily, I caught it before the CV joint ate itself. Looking around, it doesn't look like anyone makes just a replacement boot, the whole axle shaft has to be replaced. I understand the concerns with replacing the boot, and the potential for CV joint damage, just curious if anyone had done a boot replacement and had suggestions for which boot to use.

Thanks,
J.R.

Correct. It's the wife's DD, and it still has a warranty, so I'm trying not to molest it too much, yet.

New stock replacement is on order. I'm going to swap them and find a boot that can be used. The repaired one will go in as a spare and I'll keep an extra boot or two on hand for when this happens again. I'll post part numbers for the boot I find that works.

Did you ever find an aftermarket replacement? If not, do you know the diameter of the small end and large end?

Thanks!

Any news on this? I got a broken boot and would like to just replace the boot...

I did finally replace the boot on my gladiator.

Here is the NAPA boot I bought p/n: UB11 and it fit perfectly . No need for any special tool you slip it over the inner side of the shaft and it goes right in.
