Freedom Top slot?

So I was reclining back enjoying a break and looked up and saw this slot on passenger side of the top. Does anyone have an idea what this is for?

i did search and could not find anything.

It’s there so a blind person can easily tell which panel is which (similar to the way that coins have grooved edges).

My guess would be that it adds rigidity to the edge of that panel, to support the weather seal between freedom panels. If it was left as a long box shape, it would be less resistant to flexing. Contouring lighter materials is a common way of adding strength. The other way of getting the same amount of rigidity and strength is to use thicker material. In this scenario, we would need at least a few strong people to r&r a hardtop.

I think @BikiniJLR is partially right, not for a blind person per se.
It's just so we can tell right away which side is which when we take it out of the storage bag.
I know it helped me, because the one with the groove goes on first on the passenger side.
