Just to confirm the closed side of the shield with Fox logo faces towards the front of the vehicle on both front and rear shocks once installed, right?

Yes. It’s to block rocks thrown up by the front tires.

Also, the small u shaped clamp piece you put the screws through to attach to the roost shield, drill out the holes so the screws go through them easily and not need threaded through. Once you thread them through and tighten them into the roost shield the shield will not be tight on the shock. Do not touch the holes in the shield, ONLY the clamp holes.

There's not much clearance on the top of the roost when facing forward on the front shocks. It's really close (1/2" or so) to hitting the top rear of the shock tower. I'm beginning to think these are only meant for the rear.

I've never run them and never had a problem. Unless you rally race in gravel regularly is argue they aren't necessary.
