Got my bigger torque wrench back and went to properly torque everything after installing a lift a few weeks ago. When I went to torque the rear shock to axle bolt, the torque spec is 75 ft-lb and it's squeezing the bracket closed. Pics posted below, one with the bolt to torque spec and the other before I fully tighten it.

This doesn't seem right. I'm thinking a washer is needed to fill the space before tightening but would love some others' opinions.

I talked with Fox, they are sending spacers. I asked about bending the bracket back to straight, their suggestion is doing so before removing the shock... I don't see that being possible. I don't want to pry the shock out and damage it. Any thoughts?

When you loosen that 18mm nut and bolt, it’ll spring back enough to get the shock out. Then you’ll have room to get a big crescent or whatever you want to use to open it up some more if needed

Thanks a lot, I'll give it another try when the parts come in. After I realized I was bending the bracket as I torqued the bolt to spec, I took the bolt out and the shock was jammed in pretty tight even with the bolt removed. It was late, and I was tired, so I put the bolt in and called it a day at that point. I will say these shocks are pretty great otherwise, would still buy again and just pay closer attention when tightening things down.

Appreciate the reply!

Yep I experienced this firsthand it will open up just fine. A larger and longer pry bar (like the ones you see people use to break into a house) have enough leverage to pry it open. It just sucks I’m still bitter Bc fox should have sent the shocks out correctly in the first place.
