Forgot cold weather package on new order

Somehow when building my Jeep on the site for my dealership, I forgot to add the cold weather package. I had his price before the XR package with it, but when I added the XR package, I somehow missed it.

The order was put in this morning and I realized my mistake this afternoon. I called immediately.

He said that he has to email people to try to get it changed.

I wouldn’t think that it would be that difficult to change an order as long as a VIN hasn’t been generated yet. Would you?

Thanks, I hope so. He was leaving at the time when I called him. He is going to send a message to “them” tomorrow morning when he gets back in. I’m hoping that with today being a holiday that my order just sat there anyway.

“Them” = The dealer’s regional representative/manager.

Once an order has been placed into the Jeep order system, all changes have to be sent higher up the dealer chain of command for approval. There are processes in place to question dealers about changes to ensure they’re correctly discussing orders with customers before placing, etc. If a dealer has too many changes after orders have been placed, that may affect how many allocations they receive each model year.

I had a similar issue and my dealer said it was impossible to change the order once they submitted it. The only option was to place another order but the Jeep that was originally configured/ordered would still be delivered to the dealership. I had a hard time believing this to be true given the order was placed over a weekend and I caught the error prior to Monday.

What @LouKYJeep_Guy wrote makes sense - they probably just didn't want to go through the trouble for me.

I did just receive an email welcoming me to the Jeep family, but I guess that’s SOP

Your salesman is telling the truth. It does take a few days. I changed from Gecko to Tuscadero and that’s how it worked. You’ll be fine. You’ve got a good dealer if he’s willing to through the brain damage.
He’s going on vacation for a week. I’m going to lose my mind. Your post does help though. Thank you for that.

The email is SOP. The order update is done by their regional manager directly into the factory systems. Only regional management and above can update that system.

Ok! My salesman came
Back from vacation and sent me an email.

Good news #1: The Cold Weather Package was added to the order successfully.

Good news #2: My JLURXR is scheduled to start production on August 25th!

This is happening a lot faster than I thought it would.

In h case, dealing with the dealer was not enjoyable. Based on my experience I’d simply cancel the order and then do a new order.

as you said, it shouldn’t e difficult but I wouldn’t want to be inhoir shoes.
