Just took down my soft top today for the first time and when finished it sticks up quit a bit. I also tried lowering the side bars to help get it to sit flatter but it did not help and started to scratch the plastic on the side of the trunk.

Does anyone have any secrets to getting the top flatter?

My JK top didn't stick up this far. Also it bounces up and down a lot while driving, probably going to need to strap it down. Pictures are below on how it looks.

Followup question, has anyone found a good way to store the windows in the trunk? I am afraid to fold up the rear window and put it back there.

Thanks!

Use the supplied Velcro straps to pull down the top tighter. It will help it not open up like a parachute. However, you are right, it does not go down nearly as far as the JK

Where do you put the velcro straps? Mine are big enough to go around the down top.

You can uncouple that bar on the top to make it flatter. This video shows how:

I believe uncoupling the bars is only meant to be used when removing the top completely. That is how the OP scratched his side panels.
Interesting. I've been putting mine down, guess I'll leave it up for safety. Don't notice any scratches on mine.

I guess the higher ride is just the price you have to pay for the convenience. I also don't like that the c-pillar bar has the locking wheel thing which doesn't leave me any room to attach my fire extinguisher to.

I use a couple of tie downs and secured the soft top to the D rings in the back. Also prevents the bouncing of the top while driving. It was suggested in another thread.

Anyone have answers to this part of his question? I have kids, putting them anywhere but the trunk for me isn't an option.

I will not be participating in this forum as of 8/31/2018. It's been a fun ride, but it's time to move on. Take care. - Dustin

Just make sure you lock it down with the actual pull down lock located just under the roll bar once the soft top is all the way down.

I think my post, here, addresses both of your questions... certainly it does about storage of windows: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...sions-master-thread.2951/page-765#post-315448
