Fix broken prop bar for hood

Ahhh. You'd said you had a JW. The only thing my mind mapped that to was a WJ and didn't associate it with a Jeep Wrangler. My bad. This forum is focused on JLs (a very specific subset of Wranglers).

Hi. My name is Rick and I need to fix the prop bar for my hood. The other day I pulled it up to check the oil and the rivet that fixes it in place at the bottom snapped (or broke; it's made of cheap pot metal and looks like corrosion ate it.) I'm not looking for the grommet, just the round rivet at bar's attach point on the bottom.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

I added hood struts. They’re about $50 and easy to install.

Yup... Hood struts. Highly recommend @Redline Tuning. Their customer service is top shelf.

Just ordered a set of the Redline Tuning hood struts yesterday for mine. Have had a set on the wife's since 2018 with no issues. Would recommend! The hardest part of the install is finding a 10mm socket.

Just ordered a set of the Redline Tuning hood struts yesterday for mine. Have had a set on the wife's since 2018 with no issues. Would recommend! The hardest part of the install is finding a 10mm socket.

I am not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but the gas strut hood supports are a good way to go.

I went that way.

The prop-bar is now ornamental, though I'm sort of OCD and will probably replace that rivet when I have the opportunity.

Got mine installed yesterday, I know I was making jokes but I didn't realize my short 10mm socket was actually missing.
