First time Jeep owner

Just like me you too have been a Jeep owner for the first time within the last 6 to 12 months. How do you like it? I look for excuses to drive my JLUR despite having it for almost a year now! Wife loves it too and we are thinking about buying a second one.

In an homage to the old
Times of simple dashboards, hand crank windows and the 80s feeling, I am now thinking about buying a bare bones 2 door sport model with a Manual Transmission and a rag top (costs under $28k before taxes and destination fee). Wife thinks the 2 door is “sexier” than the 4 door and will like to use the 4 door as a family rig that hauls kids on the weekdays and eats Priuses on the weekend! The 2 door will be my personal toy and the car I use as my daily driver.

It will be the other end of the extreme as my JLUR is fully hooked up minus that faulty Advanced Safety Group. Looks like my other car (an 09 Civic 4 door) may need to be replaced soon.

I bought my first Jeep Unlimited in 2008 and wanted NO POWER anything, so it has hand cranked windows and no power locks. Got my 2019 Unlimited and like it as well....I do have to say, getting driving hours in for my 16 year old, I do like the comfort of the 2008 in the passenger seat, go figure??? Get what YOU want and never look back...Welcome to the Brother and Sister hood!

How was the ragtop in the winter for you, esp in Heavy Snow or Blizzards?

Good...it did the job for me...I live in Ohio so winter can be 30 and no snow or zero and a foot of snow on any given day...always had a sweatshirt in the back, just in case...not sure what I would recommend because I have both a hard top on the 2019 and soft on the 2008....think what will be best for you, but I always lean toward the "Rag Top!"

Same here. I got the dual top group in my 2020 JLUR and must say I liked the soft top. Unlike Ohio it does not snow as much on Long Island; maybe just one or two events that may deliver two feet of snow or more. Majority is 3 inches or under. Regardless of 2 feet or 3 inches, we are usually mostly melted within just ten days as winter average highs are low to mid 30s in January
