I shot IDPA back in the day along with IPSC, PPC and bullseye matches. I still have my IPSC set up but have not used it in years. Maybe I should find a match and shoot one.

I typically hang the pins by a rope then you can shoot them as they swing. I have steel targets set up at 25 yards, 50 and the longest one out is 184 yards.

Those pins are at 50 yards. 4 people at the same time, 10 pins each. $5 to shoot at one of the local clubs. Shoot as much or as little as you want.

At one time I got a pick up truck load of bowling pins. The guys I shot with would do what I called redneck bowling. We would set up 10 bowling pins like a regular frame on a big table and shoot them at 25 yards. Then we would count how many rounds it took to knock down all ten pins. We would take turns shooting and do ten frames. Who ever had the lowest round count won the game. There were times bets were made....

We would also do redneck golf. We have a huge field that in the spring after the winter wheat is cut off or the beans were harvested, would be open for well over a mile. in every direction. We would bring out a shooting table and varmint guns. Some one would tee off, and then we would shoot the golf balls with the varmint rifles. Count how many rounds it took to hit the ball. Sometimes you would luck out and the guy teeing off would get a terrible drive. other times. Fuck it is over two hundred yards..... Great way to spend the day shooting, and hone your shooting skills.

Just a bit before the pandemic and my retirement, I got this little .410. It's a special ordered Rizzini B550 with their best grade of wood and 30" barrels. Sort of a little retirement gift to myself.

Found these old pix of a 19__ (teens) A.H. Fox 12ga double I had restocked about 15 years ago. It has been hunted in SD, KS, AZ, and CA. It came to me with a broken stock. I bought the wood blank from an old friend clearing out his closet. It's one of the prettiest stocks I have.

This morning a neighbor lady was down at our house after walking the dogs with my wife and our dog. She came in and asked me for advice about her 14-15 year old asking to go shooting for the first time (ever shooting) with her boyfriend and his father. She explained that they don't know the boyfriend's father.

I told her I wouldn't let my non - shooting 15 year old daughter (if I had one) go shooting with anyone I didn't fully trust with firearms, let alone a stranger. So, NO.

Hell, I don't go shooting with many people I don't know, and have stopped shooting/hunting with several people that I have other social or business ties with, just due to their lack of safe gun handling. But I am going on a guided quail hunt down in Tombstone in December with some guys I haven't met. However, the guy that asked me to join the group is a long time friend that I know has good gun safety. Also, if he's hanging with these guys, they likely have either sxs guns or o/u guns, which are easier to display their loaded/unloaded status, when around the trucks, etc.

S&W M&P 10 Performance Center 6.5 Creedmoor w/ Primary Arms 4-16x50 optics. There's a range down in Ottawa, KS that runs out to just over 1300 yards. I haven't stretched it that far yet, but plinking steel at 800 yards is my idea of an afternoon well spent!
