I've been grounded for a week now for the stupidest reason....
My jeep had some aftermarket front fender flares on it that broke, so I bought a high clearance fender flare kit from MP concepts to replace the broken ones. (Bushwacker Hyperform... they looked really nice, but they were pretty flimsy, and I can't recommend them, especially after both of them failed within a couple days of each other.)
The problem is the MP Concepts kit assumes I'm taking of OEM flares and have hardware I can reuse. That means I need all the screws that mount the turn signals and marker lights, as well as whatever other screws and washers and such that hold the flare and liner together. (The kit did, at least come with the plastic push pin connectors I need.)
Watching the install video for the fender flare install, I think i need maybe 4 t30 screws, 2 t25 screws, 2 8mm screws, and 7 lock nuts for each side. It seems so simple, but I just can't find the right parts!
My local dealership can't find me parts numbers, and neither can any of the the local auto parts stores, who refer me back to the dealership. I called jeep, and they gave me a number (and exorbitant quote) to have my jeep towed to a dealership. (I don't need a tow, I just need a few silly parts to be able to put this thing back together and get on the road again!) It seems like the diagram is partly to fault. None of the diagrams that I can find online, nor any of the ones any of the online parts stores are looking at give a good idea of which screw goes where.
I've already dropped $50+ on different hardware kits to try to track these screws down, and spent the last week looking at install instructions for all sorts of flare kits, replacement turn signals, and replacement marker lights, but most reuse OEM parts, and none of them give a part number, just refer to "the screw in [insert location]
or "the t25/t30/8mm screw."
Somewhere, someone has access to this forbidden knowledge, and I'd really love to get in touch with them!
