Hey everyone. Hoping there is some solid data points on this that can help my decision.

I’m running 37s (12.5) on -18 offset rims
2” mopar lift
Exposed racks (roof rack)

Parking in my garage is a must. I max out now with a few cm’s to spare. Can’t add more lift and really don’t want t to downsize to 35s.

Did a little overlanding trip a few weeks ago and with the extra weight in the vehicle (350lbs or so), I was getting quite a lot of rubbing in the back.

Anyone know how much extra clearance you can get in the back chopping the fenders (removing the liner and adding an aftermarket aluminum liner)?

Thanks!

I did this a few years ago. If I remember right it is about three inches.

this is what my Jeep looks like with a 2in lift on 37s with chopped fenders.

I changed to aftermarket inner fenders and the Jeep does not rub at full flex.

That looks pretty close though. I don’t really rub with no weight. 3 inches in the back would help a lot with 350lbs extra weight in the back.
It is all about having the correct bump stops in place.

Question. Once you do the fender chop, can you return the fender back to original? or there is no going back once done??

There is no going back. Not that big of a deal, I have had two complete sets of Rubicon fenders given to me.

So you gain 3" of clearance?
I was thinking of going to larger tires, I have 37s now.
