Howdy everyone! While under the Jeep this weekend, I noticed these factory installed threaded mounting locations in the frame (in the rear).

Anyone else seen these? Anyone know anything about them?

I think a couple aftermarket MFRs are using them to mount skids, underbody air tanks, etc, but I'm curious if FCA had a purpose for putting these here or if it's another example of them pre-designing for the aftermarket (like the cowl bolts that have no structural purpose, just there to mount lights, etc).

Come on, all vehicles have frames that are produced initially with ALL ACCESS for model options--

My RAM frame is full of holes/RANGER also-

Sign of the times-

Whatever

That was unnecessarily condescending, but no worries.

Yeah, I understand how large scale, high-production manufacturing works. I have a fully loaded Rubicon JL, so if it was an option for any JL model, I think it would be there. What other vehicles share the JL frame? The JT maybe, but since it's a truck bed, I would have assumed the frame to be different towards the rear where the bed mounts, maybe not. Maybe those spots are for the spare tire mounting (which will be under the bed on the JT).

I don't know, and I was curious, hence why I'm asking the question. That's the point of these forums, right? No-one knows everything, and here we can ask questions to learn things. Or is this forum exclusive to those who already know it all?

I didn't know about that either. Interesting info. If someone could figure out the threading, you could definitely mount some rock lights in sone areas pretty easy as well.

Similar and alike--The majority of "HOLES and THREADED" captive nuts I used in the "SLIDER" installation in the frame of my RAM, so

I imagine that within a year the JL frames will be utilized the same-

Sorry to derail here, but I noticed the bit if rust in the well, I have some of that too, as did all the JLs on the lot that day. Any concern with that?
You mean on the weld bead in the second pic? Nah it's just surface rust. I'll have to take a closer look at it tomorrow, but I'm confident a little POR-15 will fix it right up.
