Experience w/ JLU door hinge covers

How has everyone's experience been with the snap-on or 3M-on plastic protective hinge covers for JLU door hinges? I can see the positives of putting a physical barrier between the hinge and anything that might kick up either on- or off-road. I can also see how they might possibly trap and hold moisture on the hinge. Mine were all replaced under warranty about a year ago.

Have had a set on all 4 doors since 8/21. Cheap Amazon set. They haven't fallen off but I don't know what's under them either. Fingers crossed all ok. I'm sure there is some dust/dirt since they don't seal just cover. There is a PPF option pre cut. A clear film application. If your in need to see paint condition.

I've had mine (with 3m tape) for a couple of years with no issues. I put them on mainly for how they look so I don't know or want to know what is going on underneath

I actually have some of that pre-cut ppf and the brand gets great reviews. I’m just wondering if what is essentially a thick piece of tape will offer protection. That being said something is better than nothing .i am worried a plastic hinge cover will have the ability to trap moisture and cause the dreaded hinge rust to begin again

I’ve been running the Amazon covers since new, no issues with coming off and definitely helps against road debris.
