I'm prepping for installing the Evo Coilover kit and had a few questions that don't seem well covered in the pdf instructions.
  • The instructions say to trim the inner fender liner. To what extent does this need to be done, and what tool is best for the job?
  • The instructions say to drill a hole from the underside of the frame coil mount. What is the best way to mark this hole for cutting? (this is the Drill 3/8" in the photo)
  • Wondering if I would be well served to get a die grinder for doing the majority of the cutoff work? I have an angle grinder and sawzall, but it looks as if cutting with an angle grinder may prove difficult in the tight space.

The questions around cutting have been partially addressed in the evo coilover kit thread, but I would be happy to hear from anyone who has done this and what tools they found best.

A box cutter with a new razor blade works well on the liners, even good scissors will do the trick. I've only installed the kit with alloy liners, but you do have to cut a fair amount.

I havent found a perfect way to drill from the bottom up, but I usually get it very close by taking measurements and starting with a smaller bit. I will then open the hole with a die grinder to match the hole in the bracket.

I found that a angle grinder with cut off wheel worked the best for cutting the factory shock towers. I tried to use a sawzall where I could, but with all the electronics/wiring etc behind the towers it proved difficult. Once I got into a groove with the angle grinder it was fairly easy/quick.

Hope that helps a bit, just what I learned from my experiences
