About to install the coilover kit from EVO and the pdf instructions aren't too clear as too how much to cut from the front shock towers.

If anyone has done this kit, any advice?

thanks in advance!

You've got it marked spot on. I made the majority of the cuts using a die cutter/cut-off wheel and then finished the cuts off with a sawzall. Basically the top few inches needed the reach of a sawzall.

Something to save you some aggravation...on the driver's side coilover tower. You will see the ABS module and bracket directly above the tower. When you go to install the coilover, a tab on that bracket will be in the way. For reference, the tab has a zip tie tree in it holding the brake module wire harness. I simply bent it out of the way thinking this would be enough. It wasn't. It rubbed on the top of the coilover causing a nasty squeak. I just nipped it off tonight with a Dremel. Much mo betta!!

how did you get the coilovers in? I could not compress the coilover enough to get it in the lower mount front and rear. i struggled and gave up for tonight

Probably need to remove sway bar links and maybe 1 side of the track bar.

What was causing you issues? The length?

I was working on the garage floor with jacks and jack stands and trying to get the Jeep high enough was a pain in the butt. I got close, but was still about 2" off. I ended up letting the nitrogen out of the coilover which let me compress it a few inches, which was all I needed to get it in. I have a nitrogen setup and King gauge at the house, so filling them back up wasn't an issue.

If you are having trouble specifically on the upper side of the driver's coilover, check out the ABS bracket and the tab that hangs down. It took a few curse words and a few busted knuckles before I realized that tab was preventing me from lining up the mounting hole.

This helped quite a bit for me. I pulled the links, trackbar, and the right hand upper control arm. This really freed up the axle to maneuver it to get the coilovers in.

Did those coilover springs come from EVO in gloss black or did you paint them? I've only seen them in blue.

how are y’all liking the evo coil overs? I’m thinking of going this route. Going to do the front first then the rear later.
