Are these regular B8 5100’s or are they custom tuned/spec’d by EVO?

I've always wondered how much difference there really is (if any) in some of the rebranded shocks, especially those that aren't rebuildable/tunable. AEV also uses Bilstein 5100s.

@AccuTunedJL Any chance you have any insight on what you've seen when looking at rebranded "lift package" shocks?

Not sure what you mean by re-branded. Companies like EVO usually have a specific layout for their shocks in order to fit properly. Reservoir orientation, bypass tube layout. etc.

Probably the wrong name. Certainly understand that tunable RR and bypass shocks have different specs.

Was talking more about the Bilstein 5100 style standard mono tubes the OP referenced.

The Evo 5100 version doesn’t pop up when I look, but something like AEV’s “AEV tuned Bilstein 5100” they market with their lift kits.

Was wondering if there is substantially different dampening accomplished with a manufacturer “specd” unit.

idk man I bought me some generic bilsten 5100s for 2~3inch lift. Paid only like $400 for them and threw them in my Jeep that has Rubicon springs. Rides great. I doubt theyre tuning anything or if it really matters that much. but who knows.
