Hi,
First of all thank you for accepting my sign up in this forum.
I need urgent support to fix some electronic failures in a JL from a car rental.
The car got flooded in a salty puddle. It simply slipped to the left on a narrow road. The car wasn't totally underwater or completely inside.
It was dense mud from a salt pan, and it got caught on one side.
Water entered the driver's foot compartment.
Important: It did not reach the ECU and did not go to the right side as it was tilted. But the connectors of the driver's feet were covered by water.
Failures noticed after leveling the car out of the puddle:
- power top not closing properly while vehicle stopped (error message: too high speed to retract the top).
- blind spot alert not operative.
- Main screen switching on & off continuously.
- electric step not responding to door open/close.
- door lock button not working.
We have removed all mud and salty water from the carpet, but we have found some connectors which are damaged.
The most damaged connector is the one that connects the door and the vehicle (see image below).
This connector is specified in the wiring diagram, found in this forum
as:
I cleaned this connector with WD40 for contacts, and the electric step started responding sometimes to door opening & close, but other issues are still showing.
I guessed is better to replace the connectors, but I only found the cables set corresponding to the door (product example image attached).
It costs around 100€, not bad.
BUT I can't find the reference of the cables set that goes from this connector in to the car.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram to identify it? (PINK in the diagram attaced above)
And one of my most important doubts:
I can understand or relate that the electric step, blind spot alert and the lock button aren't working because all these get supply from the door connector.
I have checked all other connectors where water has arrived, and it was all in good condition. Didn't find any damaged pins.
BUT what about the other failures? Can it be a security protocol of the car when it feels water inside? Could it be fixed using an OBD scan?
We need the car working correctly as soon as possible.
Thanks to all members here, I'm happy to have found this forum.
I will appreciate any help for it.
And won't doubt offering some great deals for everyone who visits us!
By the way, we're in Ibiza! Spain.
Best,
Jose.
